The Center for Infectious Diseases is a Tulane Center of Excellence with specialties in basic and applied studies of HIV/AIDS, vaccine development, tuberculosis, Lyme disease and malaria. Please take the time to explore our pages and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need additional information Mission Based on its international reputation for research in tropical medicine and infectious diseases, Tulane established a Center for Infectious Diseases (CID) in 1998 through its School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. The center's strengths lie in AIDS research, malaria, tuberculosis and vaccine research, clinical excellence, and a unique patient population. The mission of the CID is to study emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, both in the United States and abroad. The CID draws upon faculty from numerous Tulane departments, including the School of Medicine, the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Primate Center, and the Tulane-LSU-Charity Hospital General Clinical Research Center.
