Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine
Degree Requirements The MPH&TM degree requires 42 credits of course work, which can normally be completed in 1-2 years. Students must complete core courses required by the School, but the core course in Health and Human Disease (SPHL 6010 Biological Basis of Health and Disease) is waived for MPH&TM students because of the prior medical background required for admission to the program. Other requirements include completion of the MPH&TM Specialty Requirements, an approved Practicum (minimum 200 contact hours) (Practicum Sites), and an approved Culminating Experience. Students may choose one of the following options for the Culminating experience: 1. Written report or thesis on a laboratory or field based research project.
2. Public Health Analysis. A written paper; graded pass-fail, no academic credit.
Information on the latter two requirements is available from the Academics/Handbooks and Guides section of the School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine website. Course Requirements
