Guest Speaker
Each year the Eta Chapter invites an outstanding individual or panel that represents the mission of the Delta Omega Society to address the SPHTM community. Generally occurs in October/November. If you have any suggestions for speakers or topics, please e-mail deltoeta@tulane.edu.
Annual Business Meeting
The members of the Eta Chapter will convene annually. Local members are encouraged to attend. Officers will be selected for membership at this time. The annual meeting is generally held in January.
Spring Semester (Delta Omega Week)
New Member Nominations - Students, Faculty, Alumni and Honorary
Membership election occurs in the Spring of each academic year. Students that graduated in August and December of the academic year and those that will graduate in May of the academic year are eligible for nomination. Alumni and faculty nominees are submitted by each department, as well as nominations for honorary membership.
Induction of New Members
The induction ceremony honoring the newly elected members will be held in conjunction with the SPHTM Awards Ceremony (generally occurs the week of spring commencement ceremonies).
Best Doctoral Dissertation Award
Every year the Eta Chapter grants an award to the most outstanding doctoral dissertation written by an SPHTM student. Each department can submit no more than two doctoral dissertations with a letter of nomination to the committee chair. Students please contact your department representative if you would like to be considered. The winner will be recognized at the SPHTM Awards Ceremony. Generally held in April.
Public Health Poster Competition
The Eta Chapter sponsors an annual poster competition to display research and related work completed by SPHTM students. All SPHTM students are eligible to participate, including those in joint degree programs and the undergrad public health program. The first place winner is submitted to the national poster contest sponsored by APHA. The second place winner receives a cash prize. Honorable mention certificates are also awarded. The contest is usually held in March in conjunction with Open House. Click here to read more about the contest and submission guidelines.

Student Essay - Introduction of Classics
All currently enrolled students at Tulane SPHTM are eligible to participate in this contest. The essay should be an introduction to one of the Delta Omega classics posted on the National Delta Omega website. You will find classics via this link. The essay should be no longer than 2 pages, single spaced, Times New Roman 11. Please use the link to view classics that have Introductions (listed) and those that require an introduction. There is a cash award of $200 for the winning entry. The winning entry will also have the honor of being posted on the national website. All entries should be submitted to the Eta Chapter deltoeta@tulane.edu.
