2012 Commencement

Graduation Information for Spring 2016

Congratulations on your recent graduation in Summer 2015, Fall 2015 or upcoming graduation Spring 2016. These milestones will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in two distinct and unique celebrations. The Unified Commencement Ceremony will take place at the Mercedes Benz Superdome and will start promptly at 9:00am (Students are asked to arrive at 8:00am).  

The School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine Diploma Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater. The SPHTM Ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00pm. Students who wish to participate in the SPHTM Diploma Ceremony must arrive at the Mahalia Jackson Theater by 1:30pm to register. Late arriving students who do not register will not be called up to walk across the stage to receive their diploma tube from Dean Buekens.


Wave Goodbye and Other Graduation Events

Information is available regarding Wave Goodbye (Annual party given by President and modeled after New Orleans’ many springtime festivals) party ticket distribution and other graduation events and the SPHTM Awards Ceremony at http://tulane.edu/grads/. There is no reserved seating for either ceremony and all is on first come, first-serve basis.


Academic Regalia

Academic Regalia must be worn at both the Unified Commencement Ceremony and The SPHTM Diploma Granting Ceremony. There will be an OPTIONAL Downtown Grad Fest - Wednesday, 3/16 from 10-5. The downtown grad fest will be held at the Downtown bookstore and offer the following:

  • Caps & Gowns
  • Announcements
  • Class Rings
  • Free Photo Opps

Students should be sure to place orders with the Tulane University Medical School Bookstore before Friday, April 15, 2016, otherwise a late fee of $30.00 will be assessed.


Diplomas

Important note: all students will receive a blank diploma tube as they march across the stage and are photographed with Dean Buekens. All actual diplomas will be mailed to students at the address provided on the Application for Degree.


Students Needing Disability Access

Finally, if there are any students who need special disability access, please contact the Office of Student Affairs as soon as possible (SPHTMSTUDENTSERVICES@tulane.edu or 504-988-7642) so that the proper arrangements can be made.
