Recent Grads Among New Crop of ASPH Fellows


ASPH Fellows Fall 2012Four recent SPTHM graduates have been selected to become Association of Schools of Public Health Fellows in two separate categories.

Brittany Howard and Nicole Nakata, both Global Environmental Health Sciences graduates, have begun work at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as ASPH/EPA Public Health Fellows. Over the next 12 months, Howard and Nakata will train under the guidance of public health experts within EPA while contributing to efforts related to environmental health and environmental justice, two of the agency’s top priorities. 

Howard has been placed at Research Triangle Park, the EPA’s major center for air pollution research and regulation, located in North Carolina. Nakata’s work will be with the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response in Washington, DC. 

Kristen Belcher, who graduated from the Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences, has been placed at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control as part of the ASPH/CDC Public Health Fellows Program.

Sinéad Isaacson, another ASPH/CDC Public Health Fellow, has begun her fellowship with the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. Both Isaacson, a graduate of the Department of Epidemiology, and Belcher will be Atlanta, Ga.

The ASPH/CDC Public Health Fellows Program is an intensive one-year assignment at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
