Ph.D. Scholarships
The Department of Epidemiology invites applications from outstanding candidates for Ph.D. Scholarships. Areas of research and study include: Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology, Reproductive Epidemiology, Cancer Epidemiology, Genetic Epidemiology, Molecular Epidemiology, Environmental Epidemiology, Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Renal Disease Epidemiology.
The Dean's Research Council Scholarship includes full tuition in addition to a $24,000 stipend/year. Applicants must display a record of superior academic and professional achievement, evidenced by successful completion of a master's program, professional references and combined verbal and quantitative GRE scores exceeding 1200 with strong quantitative abilities. Only exceptional candidates will be considered. For full consideration, completed applications for scholarships must be received in the Office of Admissions no later than December 1, 2012.
The Department of Epidemiology Doctoral Scholarship includes full tuition in addition to a $20,000 stipend/year. For full consideration, completed applications for scholarships must be received in the Office of Admissions no later than January 15, 2013.
The Training in Global Reproductive Epidemiology (TIGRE) grant is a pre-doctoral training program in reproductive, perinatal, and pediatric epidemiology. The funding is provided by the NIH T32 grant mechanism and is administered by Tulane’s Center for Evidence-Based Global Health and the Department of Epidemiology. The TIGRE Grant includes full tuition support in addition to a $23,000 stipend/year.
Successful candidates will receive:
- Tuition for up to three years of doctoral study,
- Living expenses stipend,
- Health insurance,
- Travel and conference expenses
Trainees will work closely with a Tulane epidemiology mentor, as well as other faculty in maternal and child health, international health, and tropical medicine, when appropriate. Students planning to conduct research in pediatric, perinatal, or reproductive epidemiology are encouraged to apply. All candidates must meet the epidemiology department’s standard admission requirements.
