Personal Statement:
My focus is reproductive epidemiology. Within that, I work on projects about mechanisms of health disparities: ways that the body might react to social realities or perceptions to negatively affect pregnancy. I look at aspects of psychological stress and how they affect reproductive health, particularly pregnancy and low birth weight. I have been working on projects to follow up the effects of Katrina on pregnant women and their infants. I am also interested in ways to measure stress, methods for studying reproductive epidemiology, and oral clefts.
