Are You Ready to Show Your Commitment?
Whether you are working in a city health department in the Midwest, conducting research in a university lab, or creating evaluation protocols in Africa, you're demonstrating your commitment to global health every day.
Last fall, at APHA, we asked alumni to tell us what they're doing. And we promised a few prizes for anyone we featured in the Spring/Summer 2010 edition of Global Health. So here they are:
- Jorge Carlos Calvo Lon (HSM MMM '04) practices medicine for Med Corp del Valle. He also volunteers at a free clinic every Friday.
- Sarah Crass (CHS MPH '02) is part of World Vision International's Global Health and Nutrition and HOPE Initiative Team.
- Karla Ann Morgan (INHD MPH '89) ran the Great Wall of China Marathon last year in an effort to raise awareness and support for over 2,000 orphans and widows at St. George's Church in Baghdad. She completed the challenging 42 km course (which includes miles of hills and 5,000 stairs) in 5:11:16, placing her 22nd out of 158 women.
Each of these alumni will receive a small SPHTM prize. Will you be next? This time, we want Facebook updates. Become our Facebook friend and tell us what you are doing, and maybe you'll be getting a small gift in the mail!
All of this fun is leading up to our Centennial Celebration in November of 2012. Save the date to be in New Orleans November 9 – 11, 2012.
