School Ranking Improves in 2008 Edition
of America's Best Graduate Schools

In the 2008 edition of America's Best Graduate Schools, U.S. News and World Report ranks the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine No. 13, three notches higher than its previous ranking.

“This is a tribute to the hard work of the faculty, students, and staff,” said Pierre Buekens, dean of the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. “We’ve continued to see steady growth in our program offerings, research funding, and honors. Last fiscal year, we had over $30 million in external funding, and our researchers have made marked accomplishments in the past few years. Our students and alumni continue to attract national attention for their work, and this is all part of what has earned this ranking improvement.”

To celebrate this achievement, a reception with cake and punch will be held for faculty, students, and staff on Tuesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in the Collins C. Diboll Gallery on the first floor of the Tidewater Building.

Rankings were computed in January 2007, based on data from a survey sent out in the fall 2006.
