Tulane University to celebrate the opening of the Ruth U. Fertel/Tulane Community Health Center and Brinton Family Health & Healing Center. The newly renovated 11,000-square-foot facility offers high quality, cost-effective health care to residents, whether they have insurance or not, with the goal of creating a healthier New Orleans. The center is located on the Broad Street site of the former Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
Tulane University President Scott Cowen, School of Medicine Dean Dr. Benjamin Sachs, New Orleans Health Commissioner Dr. Karen DeSalvo, project supporter Bill Brinton, clinic staff and members of the community will dedicate the new building and honor those whose contributions were vital in making the center a reality.

The health center is more than triple the size of the clinic’s former location at Covenant House, growing from five to 13 exam rooms with a capacity of up to 1,500 patient visits per month. The facility offers primary care, chronic disease management, HIV care and mental health services. The Brinton Family Health & Healing Center, which includes space for community events, meetings and group exercise, offers social service resources and health programming to promote disease prevention, community engagement and healthier living.
