Community Health Sciences

Goal:
To prepare health professionals for leadership in community health practice through education, research, and practice directed at community-based health promotion and disease prevention.

Career paths of graduates:
Primary care or specialty care physician involved in programs for populations at risk. Research program director, state health director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officer are potential clinical and program policy positions with local, national or international focus.

Community Health Sciences Degree Requirements
MD/MPH Combined Degree students pursuing an MPH in Community Health Sciences complete the following requirements:

  • School of Medicine coursework
  • Required SPHTM coursework
  • Practicum (fulfilled, in part, by the MD/MPH rotation)
  • Culminating experience
