| Spotlight On: APHA Annual Meeting in San Diego |
The APHA Annual Meeting is the oldest and largest gather of public health professionals in the world. Over 13,000 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, epidemiologists, and students attend. Scientific sessions, workshops and meetings are available to address current and emerging health issues. In 2008, the MCPHLT was able to sponsor four MCH graduate students' attendance at APHA. |

Tulane students and staff enjoy a sunny afternoon in San Diego, CA during the 2008 APHA Annual Meeting | Tulane graduate students, Muhammad Bagana, Kemi Orekoya and Bryon Hughes each had unique first experiences at APHA. Look for student reflections on their trip to San Diego in the December edition of the MCPHLT newsletter.

Spotlight On: Family Centeredness in Maternal & Child Health
|
|
Family Centeredness in Maternal and Child Health - sounds redundant, doesn't it? In order to apply family cnetered care to the MCPHLT program, we have chosen the term "family centeredness" and defined it as the the transfer of a set of skills that will enable the MCH public health graduate to be family centered. These skills include cultural competency, ethics, empowering others, communication, adult learning, coaching, training, collaborating and community organizing among others. | | | | For more information about Family Centeredness, click here.
