Frequently Asked Questions 1) Who has the right to know when a confidential incident has occurred? Only those who are part of the initial incident and/or a school administrator on a need to know basis.
2) Who follows up and how? The faculty/staff who was part of the initial incident or a pre-designated school representative.
3) Can other faculty/staff be informed as well if it affects their courses? Not unless given permission by the student affected to do so, or if there is a need to know based on imminent harm or danger to self or others.
4) What about issues of disruptive behavior by students? How is that handled? Please see the Student Affairs Guidelines for Faculty and Staff for Disruptive and Threatening Student Behavior.
5) There are three options, how do we know which one to chose? Although each Center may be specialized in certain issues, all three are prepared to assist in crisis intervention and help students access the mental health counseling they need. |
