Academic Departments

Biostatistics
Biostatistics is a branch of applied statistics
and is concerned with developing and using techniques 
to summarize and analyze medical and biological data.  
Health Systems Management
The department prepares men and women for management careers in the health care system.


Community Health Sciences
The department trains future leaders in public health,
conducts research in population-based health
strategies, and carries out public health projects
linked to teaching and research in maternal and child
health; health education and communication; and nutrition.

International Health and Development
The department is dedicated to improving the health status of populations throughout the world. The teaching and research programs emphasize interdisciplinary, creative problem-solving in the health and social sectors.

Environmental Health Sciences
The department educates students so that they may
recognize, evaluate, and control environmental health
problems.
Tropical Medicine
The department is a leader in parasitology and tropical medicine. Teaching and research are based on the epidemiology of tropical diseases such as malaria,
HIV/AIDS, West Nile, and tuberculosis.

Epidemiology
As one of the basic sciences of public health
and preventive medicine, epidemiology is the study
of the distribution and determinants of disease
and disability in populations.
