• The Dean’s Scholastic Awards are scholastic achievement awards presented each year by the Dean. • The Dean’s Outstanding Student Leadership Award is presented to the student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities during the academic year in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. • The Dean’s Outstanding Student Service Award is presented to the student who has shown outstanding commitment in service activities to the community and the School. • The Tulane Health Sciences Leadership in Research Award is given to commend outstanding achievement in new competitive research. • The Tulane Health Sciences Promise in Research Award is given to commend outstanding progress in competitive research. • The Tulane Health Sciences Distinction in Research Award is given to commend outstanding achievement in and commitment to excellence in total competitive research funding. • The Tulane Medical Alumni Association Award is given annually to an outstanding Tulane student for scholastic achievement in and contributions to the Tulane University Medical Center and university-wide. • The Gaylord Cummins Outstanding Master of Public Health Student • The John J. Walsh, M.D. Award is presented to the graduating MD/MPH degree program student who best exhibits extraordinary leadership in and commitment to improving the health of individuals and communities. • The Elizabeth A. Bennett Award is given to the graduating master's student in maternal and child health who best exemplifies Betty Bennett's dedication to the health of mothers and children. • The ETA Chapter of Delta Omega Society membership is awarded to a limited number of students each year whose scholarship places them in the upper fourth of the graduating class. • The Delta Omega Society, ETA Chapter Award for Best Dissertation • The Award for Excellence in Biostatistics honors a biostatistics student who shows excellence in scholarship and service to the department. • The Caesar Corzantes Award is given by the Department of Community Health Sciences to a student who has shown academic potential in maternal and child health. • The Community Health Sciences Award for excellence in Nutrition Award is given to the student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in nutrition. • The Community Health Sciences Award for excellence in Health Education and Communication Award is given to the student who demonstrates outstanding achievement in health education and communication. • The Dorothy R. LeBlanc Scholarship is given by the Department of Epidemiology to a student who has shown the most potential for high quality research in the field. • The Mary Elizabeth O'Connor Memorial Scholarship Award is provided to an outstanding epidemiology student. • The Frank W. Macdonald Environmental Health Sciences Award is given by the department to the outstanding student in a master’s degree program in environmental health sciences. The recipient is selected by the faculty of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. • Certificates of Recognition for Excellence in Environmental Health Sciences are awarded annually by the department to students who have shown exemplary performance and leadership in environmental health sciences. • The Jeffrey H. Epstein Memorial Scholarship and the Foster G. McGaw Scholarship are given annually by the Department of Health Systems Management to outstanding students who best fulfill the criteria of academic achievement, recognized leadership, and community service. • The Health Systems Management Alumni Award for Leadership is given by the department's alumni to a student in recognition of extraordinary leadership abilities. • The Outstanding Master of Medical Management Award is given by the faculty of the Health Systems Management department in recognitition of a student's exceptional leadership, peer respect, and outstanding academic performance. • The James Grant Child Survival Award is presented annually by the Department of International Health and Development to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence and a high degree of potential for contributions to the goals of international child survival.
• The Carroll Behrhorst Primary Health Care Award is presented annually by the Department of International Health and Development to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence and dedication to the delivery of primary health care in lesser developed countries. • The Jack C.S. Ling International Health and Development Student Service Award is given to the student who demonstrates academic excellence and has provided service to the department, staff, and students during his or her tenure. • The Charles C. Bass Award is presented annually by the Department of Tropical Medicine to a student who has shown outstanding academic excellence in the MPH&TM degree program. • The Ernest Carroll Faust Award is presented annually by the Department of Tropical Medicine to a student who has shown outstanding academic excellence in the MSPH degree program. • The Health Sciences Teaching Excellence Award is given to the faculty member who demonstrates exceptional professional demeanor and an ability to advise and give direction. The recipient is accessible and approachable to students. • The Health Sciences Staff Excellence Award is given to the staff member who demonstrates exceptional work, dedication, and responsiveness to student needs. • The Dean E. Elaine Boston Award for Outstanding Long-Term Commitment to Student Needs recognizes one individual each year who exhibits qualities and gifts similar to Dean Boston.
