Travel Information and Related Links

We will help make arrangments for travel to and from Shanghai, but students can also make their own arrangements. Some recommended sites for buying flights:

Although we do not make arrangements for students wishing to travel/tour China upon a completion of the program, there are plenty of resources/travel agencies online that students can turn to for more information about traveling in China. Traveling in China is safe and easy. Traveling in China by trains, buses, and air is affordable and safe. China is a beautiful and diverse country and this is a great opportunity to visit this flourishing nation!

While in Shanghai, China the students will be staying at Pine City Hotel. It is a 4 star international hotel conveniently located next to Xu Jia Hui - a major commercial and shopping district in Shanghai.

Some useful traveling guides are:

  • The Lonely Planet China
  • The Rough Guide to China 4 (Rough Guide Travel Guides)

Travelers Health

For students covered by the Tulane Student Health Insurance Plan, they are covered world wide.  For students not covered by this plan, they should check with their current insurance providers to find out if their health insurance covers them internationally or not.  If their medical insurance does not then they will have to purchase health insurance that provides international coverage in order to attend the program.

Student’s are also advised to check that they are updated on their immunizations and they obtain all the necessary immunizations necessary for safe traveling into China.  Student’s should begin preparing for immunizations at least three months in advance of expected travel date.  For Tulane students, they can make an appointment at the Tulane Travel Clinic to discuss their itinerary and vaccine needs with a physician.  For more information on the Tulane Travel Clinic visit their website at http://www.tulane.edu/~health/Travel.htm.
