Master of Medical Management (MMM) The Tulane-ACPE MMM track is offered to physicians that are members of the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) and have completed a minimum of 125 hours of section one coursework with ACPE. What type of content is covered in the curriculum? The MMM curriculum incorporates the knowledge, understanding, skills and values relevant to management and gives emphasis to the unique competencies required of physician executives in today's health care industry. MMM curriculum addresses the following broad content areas: - The health status of populations, determinants of health and illness, and factors influencing the use of health care and medical care services
- The organization, financing, and delivery of health services
- The role of accounting, finance, policy, and quantitative analysis in management
- Positioning organizations within their business environment and managing these organizations for continued effectiveness
- Interpersonal communication and leadership skills
- Human resources management
- Performance measurement, quality improvement, and information systems
How is the program structured? The MMM program is delivered in an executive format that enables the physician to continue to work while completing the degree. It is organized into four semesters in which most of the courses are delivered online. Each semester will also include one short on-campus module. Modules are held on Tulane's Health Sciences Center campus in the New Orleans Central Business District (CBD). What is the Tulane-ACPE track schedule? The class of 2010 cohort is scheduled to begin September 2009. The application deadline is July 1, 2009. Please note, if you are scheduled to complete your ACPE coursework by the start date of a new MMM cohort, then you can apply to this program prior to completing ACPE Section I. What does the program cost? Once you have been accepted into the MMM program, you are required to submit a commitment fee of $500, which will be applied to your first tuition bill. This cost is inclusive of all assigned textbooks, course materials, CME credits, breakfast, lunch and snacks. The program cost is subject to change.
