The Culminating Experience in Health Systems Management

Requirements for the MHA, MPH and all joint degree programs:

To graduate, the Department of Health Systems Management requires that all Master of Health Administration of Master of Public Health students complete a zero credit hour Culminating Experience, SPHL 795, typically in the last semester of the degree program. See the document entitled Process for Completing the Culminating Experience.

At the beginning of the semester when planning to complete the Culminating Experience, you must fill out and submit the form "Intent to Complete the Culminating Experience". The Culminating Experience includes a Public Health Analysis (PHA) and an Oral Defense. An assigned HSM faculty mentor will be assigned to you and will evaluate your submitted PHA using the PHA Evaluation Instrument. A faculty and alumni evaluation team will hear and assess the Oral Defense Evaluation Instrument. Your faculty advisor or Program Director can answer any questions you might have about the Culminating Experience.
