What are the computer requirements for HSM programs?

Students in the HSM degree programs are required to have a laptop computer configured to the following specifications. Computers configured with anything less than the recommended specifications may not be supported. To ensure your system can be supported and used with the Tulane network, these minimum configurations are required. Additionally, students can purchase several software packages for a nominal fee under the site license agreements developed with software manufacturers. Required Laptop Computer Configuration - Pentium III or higher processor
- At least 1GB RAM
- 60GB hard drive minimum
- CD, CDRW, DVDR, DVDRW (any of these accepted)
- Internal Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC)
- Internal or External 802.11b wireless network card
Computer Software Requirements All computers should be equipped with the following software applications. - Operating System - (PC) XP Professional or Vista Business -- (MAC) OS X or higher
- Microsoft Office 2003 Professional or higher (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
- McAfee Virus Scan software (free to Tulane students) or another adequate virus protection software program that has the most recent anti-virus files.
Students should be proficient in Microsoft Office, with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, prior to entering the program. All computers accessing the Tulane network are required to have virus protection software and, when applicable Windows Updates (PC users only).Your cooperation is needed to ensure the network remains functional. Computers without the proper software will not have ready access to the network. McAfee Virus Scan software is available for free to Tulane students, faculty and staff.
