Programs and Degrees
The department offers both master’s and doctoral degree programs. Both sets of degree programs are designed to prepare students for careers in application of skills to public health practice. Master's Degree Programs Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree MPH in Maternal and Child Health/Epidemiology - Dual Concentration Master of Science (MS) Degree Master of Science in Clinical Research Masters International Program The Department of Epidemiology also welcomes students to join us as Masters Internationalists. These students complete their MPH course work on campus, but they also gain vital public health experience through two years of service with the Peace Corps. The Peace Corps experience offers a number of personal and professional benefits to public health students, and it also fulfills the practicum requirement of the school. Medical Doctor/Master of Public Health (MD/MPH) Degree
4 + 1 Joint Degree Program The 4+1 joint degree program allows outstanding Tulane BSPH students to complete the class requirements for both undergraduate and master’s degrees at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in a period of approximately five years. Fifteen credit hours of graduate core coursework taken while completing the BSPH applies towards the BSPH and the MPH (or MSPH) for those accepted into the joint degree program. BSPH students apply to the joint degree program during their third year of the BSPH, or one year before they expect to fully matriculate as a graduate student.
