Ben Swig, a 2009 MPH graduate with a degree in environmental health sciences, was recognized recently by the Academy of International Mobile Healthcare Integration (AIMHI) with the Leadership in Integrated Healthcare Award. Swig serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council, an advisory board to dean of the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Swig is a public health entrepreneur and business strategist based in Colorado, and currently serves as the director of healthcare innovation and strategy at Acadian Ambulance, the country’s largest private ambulance company, as well as director of Acadian Health, Acadian’s in-home mobile healthcare division.

The announcement highlighted Swig’s visionary leadership at Acadian Health as instrumental in transforming healthcare through innovative initiatives such as establishing a mobile healthcare division and instituting value-based care agreements. Through his efforts, Acadian Health has integrated EMS into broader healthcare delivery systems, from home healthcare innovations to partnerships for advanced medical solutions, demonstrating an exceptional commitment to improving patient care, efficiency, and outcomes.

“Swig's strategic initiatives have had a profound impact on the EMS and healthcare industries, making him a deserving recipient of the Leadership in Integrated Healthcare Award,” the award stated.

Prior to his work with Acadian Ambulance, Swig served as co-founder and COO of Ready Responders, an on-demand supplier of healthcare providers addressing the medical needs of people in their homes. Most recently, Swig helped develop Checkpoint, a web- and cloud-based software platform to help employers screen, track, and trace COVID-19 within their employee population and help them keep their business running.

In addition to his Master of Public Health, Swig also earned his MBA from Tulane’s Freeman School of Business in 2016. He is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Public Health program in Equity, Leadership, and Advocacy. He joined the Dean’s Advisory Council in 2020.
