SGA Officers and Position Description

President:  Michael Gillette

  • Attend meetings with Executive Faculty, Medical Alumni Association, General Faculty, bi-monthly with executive officers, SGA, SGA staff advisor.
  • Supervise SGA officers and activities.
  • Act as liaison with departments.
  • Coordinate budget with treasurer and GAPSA senators.
  • Maintain history of activities and correspondence.

Vice-President: Sarah Mack

  • Coordinate fall and spring SGA elections as well as voting for Excellence in Teaching Award.
  • Attend faculty and curriculum meetings.
  • Preside over presidential duties in absence of president.
  • Assist in development of annual budget.

Treasurer:  Allison Brannen

  • Maintain an accurate accounting system of SGA revenues and expenditures.
  • Coordinate all reimbursement activities.
  • Maintain and justify monthly financial statements.
  • Report budget balances to SGA on a regular basis.

Secretary: Jill Fox

  • Prepare agenda for each SGA meeting.
  • Attend all SPHTM executive board meetings and report proceedings to SGA members.
  • Maintain minutes at SGA meetings.

Academic Affairs Representatives: Denise Miles, Adam Streiffer

  • Serve as SGA representative on the Curriculum Committee.
  • Compile and report on evaluations of classes and professors.
  • Gain student feedback in regards to Curriculum Committee.

CATCUS - Community Action Council Tulane University Students:  Jill Fox,  Sarah Harelson, Nicole Hoff

  • Coordinate and organize philanthropic events for student participation.

GAPSA/ASB Representatives: Allison Brannen, Katie Reilly, Kera Thompson, Ashley Weber

  • Represent SPHTM interests at monthly GAPSA meetings, acting as liaison between SPHTM students and other graduate schools.
  • Aid in budget planning.

International Student Representative: Sofiat Makanjuola-Akinola Adenike Onagoruwa,  Deepika Sharma

  • Meet regularly with CISS liaison.
  • Update visa and financial concerns of international students.
  • Organize events for international students.

Newsletter/Website Editor: Tam Do, Lisa Hoffman, Samantha Mack, Amit Wadhwa

  • Solicit, edit, and design layout of SGA website and Jambalaya online newsletter.
  • Assist officers in publicizing special events and programs.

SHAC - Student Health Advisory Committee:  Lorrie Dacuma, Aryel Gonzalez, Bethany Ketrow, Kirstin Krudwig

  • Coordinate at least one health-related event and blood drive each semester.
  • Develop, implement, and analyze surveys assessing current needs and opinions of SPHTM students directly related to student health services.
  • Assist in questions and concerns related to health insurance billing or medical services.

Social Committee: Melody Bazyar, Tierney Davis, Kathy Lancaster, Marstal Mattson

  • Plan social events.
  • Coordinate activities with other colleges, Alumni Association, and student organizations.

Special Events: Joey DeMarco, Sarah Franz, Daniella Rivera

  • Coordinate at least one major event each semester.
  • Assist executive officers in coordination of special events and/or programs.

Sports Coordinator: Kevin Dugan, Brad Hawkins, Melissa Owsiany

  • Inform students of sporting activities held on the uptown campus, ticket information, and sporting events in New Orleans.
  • Organize intramural sports teams.
  • Maintain SGA sporting equipment.
