PRC Practica Students Win Awards! The Prevention Research Center is proud to announce that four students who participated in the PRC Health Promotion Practicum Program have won awards in the Department of Community Health Sciences Poster Session Contest! All School of Public Health students must complete a practicum, and all CHS students must submit a poster describing the learning objectives, activities, and outcomes of their internship. And the end of the Spring and Fall semesters, the posters are reviewed by faculty and awards are given for first, second, and third place. The Spring Poster Session was held on April 24th, and the following students received awards: FIRST PLACE - Dawn Glapion Poster Title: Neighborhood Design for the Elderly and Disabled Populations of New Orleans Internship Host - The Office of Recovery and Development Administration, City of New Orleans * SECOND PLACE (tie) Lauren Futrell Poster Title: Food Ubiquity Study Internship Host - The Prevention Research Center * Neal Goldenberg Poster Title: Community Gardens as a Way to Promote Individual and Community Health in New Orleans Internship Host - The Renaissance Project * THIRD PLACE - Camillia Easley Poster Title: Steps to a Healthier New Orleans: Corner Store Initiative Internship Host - Steps to a Healther LA/New Orleans Congratulations to these sharp, committed students! The Prevention Research Center offers practicum internships in the field of health promotion with up to three PRC partners each semester. The next round of practicum internships will be announced by the end of May. |
