Tulane MCPHLT Scholarship Programs

Tulane MCPHLT Leadership Scholars

The Tulane MCPHLT Scholarship program offers the opportunity for dedicated students to work with MCPHLT faculty and staff to tailor a plan that is individualized to suit their particular goals and needs. Scholarship opportunities are mentored student-driven programs and are offered in a variety of formats:  the semester scholar, the summer scholar, and the doctoral scholar. The MCPHLT Scholarship program also offers travel stipends to students to participate in scientific meetings, such as the annual American Public Health Association (APHA) Conference.

Scholarship opportunities are announced throughout the year.

Eligible students may apply and be accepted for participation in the program during multiple semesters provided satisfactory performance. Once a student becomes a Scholar, they will receive continued benefits from the program, until the completion of their degree and successful entry into the workforce. These benefits include invitations to MCPHLT events and support by MCPHLT faculty and staff,  as long as students maintain the minimum eligibility requirements.  All Scholars are also expected to maintain contact with the MCPHLT program for at least five years after their graduation date.

Successful leadership skills are obtained through 1) Reading and research, 2) Training and skill-building, 3) Application, and  4) Reflection –  Scholars are assigned activities that enhance self-awareness and allow self-reflection throughout their tenure that are relevant to the acquisition of new knowledge and skills, and short and long-term goal-setting.
