The project will carry-out action oriented research on promising strategies for mitigating the impact of the epidemic. It seeks to build individual, community and institutional research capabilities, disseminate research findings, and promote the utilization of these findings for program improvement. HORIZONS will identify effective, gender sensitive and sustainable ways of: - supporting people to make informed decisions about their sexual health
- reducing the vulnerability of those particularly at risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections
- enhancing the quality of life of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS
The project will work in Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America to identify better practices for reducing sexually transmitted infections, integrating HIV/AIDS services into other programs, reducing stigmatization and discrimination, providing care and support to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, and increasing access to prevention and treatment services.
