Effective dates: March 1, 2008 - September 30, 2012
Funding Source: USAID (PEPFAR)
Tulane's Role: subcontracted by AED
Region or Country (ies): Dominican Republic
Principal Investigator(s): Carl Kendall

Under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, USAID awarded the Academy for Educational Development and its subcontractors Tulane University, Columbia University and Cicatelli Associates a five-year HIV/AIDS project in the Dominican Republic.  The project provides technical assistance, institutional strengthening and support to the Government of the Dominican Republic.  In addition, the project administers a grants and capacity building program with civil society organizations for the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs.  The project's goal is to limit HIV transmission and its impact on the Dominican population by making high quality, culturally appropriate services available to people living with HIV/AIDS and those at risk of infection.  Tulane provides technical expertise in monitoring and evaluation, applying effective, integrated approaches to process and outcome measurement and M&E capacity building across the project's service components.
