| | | IHD Participates in Rebuilding Together Forty-two faculty, students, masters internationalists (who will enter Peace Corps after the MPH), returned peace corps volunteers (some who are in our MPH program currently and some who are members of the local community), and Humphrey fellows worked over two weekends to rebuild a home in Mid-City. This program is part of a citywide community outreach which helped 30 retired or disabled homeowners to fix up and repair their homes. | | Campus Visits We welcome visits from prospective students. They shared the realities of public health "on the ground" with the undergraduates. The discussions were lively and the sharing went both ways. Fellows commented on the excellent and challenging questions and students were thrilled to have "real" public health professionals to talk to. Hannah Smith, one of the students wrote, "Talking to Rhoda Banda was really one of the more memorable experiences I've had in my almost year and a half at Tulane. I decided to major in public health at the end of last year and today, when I had a chance to talk to Rhoda, was one of those days where my passion for public health seemed almost tangible to me. Many of the facts Ms. Banda addressed really spoke to me." | Rhoda Banda, Hannah Smith and other students discuss the realities of public health in Malawi.
| | | | | | | | | | | | New IHD Master's Students Orientation The faculty and staff welcomed the new group of MPH students to the department. It's a diverse group of international students, returned Peace Corps Volunteers, Master's Internationalist students, and many others excited about beginning this adventure together.
