| | | Three small grants of $5,000 each are made available each year to allow faculty to explore new opportunities for global health research or to become involved in ongoing research projects with a global health focus. These small grants will not fund new research but rather fund travel, subsistence, or limited research expeneses.
The main criteria for awarding faculty research grants are: - The proposed project holds promise for long-term collaboration.
- There is good potential for outside funding for the eventual research and/or for the research to become incorporated into an existing project.
- The investigator's interests and the ongoing research project are compatible.
- The research project has continued funding for at least one year
Faculty interested in applying for these grants should provide the following: - A completed application.
- A 2-page summary describing the proposed research project, whether new or ongoing, its potential or current source of funding, the duration of the funding, and the faculty member's proposed role in the research project. The faculty member must also describe any future opportunities foreseen as a result of this collaboration.
- A letter from the potential collaborator, supporting the seriousness and commitment for this project, or a letter from the principal investigator of the research project that supports the integration of this new investigator into the ongoing project.
- A proposed budget and budget justification.
Grant proposals are accepted twice each year, in mid-May and mid-October. Completed applications and accompanying materials should be submitted by email to Andrea Meyer, Office of Global Health Program Manager, at ameyer1@tulane.edu. Proposals will then be distributed to the members of the Executive Committee for review and recommendation. A maximum of 3-4 such proposals are funded each year. The Office of Global Health is currently accepting faculty research grant applications; the deadline to apply is Monday, October 19th.
