Personal Statement:
I began my career at Planned Parenthood of Louisiana, where I functioned in several roles, including as director of clinic services and as director of operations. In 1993, I repositioned myself to make more use of my health communication/education training and began working with the community health sciences department here at the Tulane. I hold a joint appointment with Tulane and with the Louisiana Office of Public Health in the maternal and child health section. At the Office of Public Health, I direct and oversee several health communication projects, particularly as relate to maternity and women's health issues. One such project is a statewide social marketing campaign called Partners for Healthy Babies. This project uses many different communication channels, including the media, to encourage women to seek out early prenatal care and practice healthy behaviors.
