Training Projects Public Health Program Dr. Maya Begalieva Dr. Begalieva is contracted with the Louisiana Office of Public Health (LOPH) as a faculty from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine to manage and coordinate the LOPH/Tulane Internship Program. Dr. Begalieva manages all aspects of the school's student placement program and directs the College Work-Study Program at various agencies for School of Public Health interns. She serves as a liaison between Tulane University, SPHTM and LOPH to coordinate collaborative efforts in public health practice.
Maternal and Child Health Long Term Training Program Dr. Jeanette Magnus HRSA/MCHB The primary goal of this Public Health Training Program is to "improve the health status of women (including women of reproductive age), infants, children, youth, and their families" by supporting the training of public health professionals for leadership in Maternal and Child Health in accredited Schools of Public Health. The Maternal and Child Health Section at Tulane will work to achieve this overall goal through: leadership training for public health practitioners, degree-related MCH leadership and management training for master's and doctoral students, expanded research and research training within the MCH section, and strengthened partnerships with the community and with public health agencies. Maternal and Child Health/Epidemiology Doctoral Support Training Program Dr. Jeanette Magnus HRSA/MCHB The primary goal of this program is to educate doctoral candidates to be competent in maternal and child health (MCH) and in the application of epidemiologic methods to conduct research in the field. Additionally, the program aims to foster the capacity of local and state agencies in MCH epidemiology. Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) Dr. Jeanette Magnus NIH The program is dedicated to promoting Women's Health research and the subsequent transfer of findings. In order to improve he quality and increase the quantity of Women's Health research, Tulane BIRCWH proposes to bridge the period between advanced training and research independence as well as link professions, scientific disciplines, and areas of interest for selected scholars. This will ensure, in a thoughtfully mentored setting, the necessary protected time for both didactic learning and research training such that the program will ultimately produce exceedingly competent junior faculty members who will achieve research independence. |
