Admission Deadlines

Master of Public Health

The Department of Community Health Sciences maintains a rolling admission policy for the Master of Public Health only. Applications are accepted during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.

Priority Deadlines:
March 15 – for summer applicants
April 15 – for fall applicants
October 15 – for spring applicants

Doctorate of Public Health (DrPH) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Applications are only accepted during Spring for Fall admission. 

Deadlines:
January 1 – for fall applicants

Registered Dietician
Applications are only accepted during the fall and spring. 

Deadlines:
February 15 – for August enrollment
September 15 – for January enrollment

Frequently Asked Questions

What GRE scores are required for admission?
The Department of Community Health Sciences recommends a combined GRE score of at least 1000. Experience and prior coursework will be considered.

What undergraduate GPA is required for admission?
An undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0 is strongly recommended for admission.

What undergraduate coursework is required for admission?
We accept students from all undergraduate majors.

What semester do most students start taking classes?
Most students start taking classes in the Fall semester.

How long does the MPH program take to complete?
On average, most students complete the program in 4 semesters during two academic years.

I would like to work internationally. Is your Department still for me?
In addition to having several international faculty members, our faculty conducts research and teached courses abroad. Our students come from around the globe. Just as you will encounter public health agencies anywhere you find people, communities are not limited by borders. The principles of community based program planning, research, and advocacy are the same for a neighborhood in New Orleans as for a village in Cameroon.

Where are MPH graduates employed?
Our students can be found in non-profit, for-profit, academic, community based agenices, and governmental agencies around the globe. Please check the Careers and Opportunities page for more information.
