What is the Culminating Experience/Culminating experience requirement?
All students must complete a “culminating experience” or “Culminating Experience” project in addition to their coursework. The Culminating Experience activity is designed for students to synthesize and integrate knowledge acquired through course work and other learning experiences. Culminating Experiences apply theory and principle to a project that is usually conducted at the workplace. What projects are suitable vary slightly by degree program, but all projects are a field project or practice experience with an accompanying report of 20-25 pages. The student’s project will be agreed upon between the student and his/her advisor, and mentored and evaluated by a Culminating Experience advisor who is a subject matter expert on the chosen topic. In some cases the student may obtain academic credit for a special study performed in conjunction with this project. Additional information regarding the Culminating Experience project will be given to the students in each program during their orientation and in a special class session dedicated to the discussion of the Culminating Experience project and completion process that takes place later in the students’ matriculation.
